Sweet Sifen was brought to our Hannah’s Hope partner home in February of 2016 by her birth mother and elderly grandfather. While her birth mother works as a day laborer, sadly she is unable to earn sufficient income to support Sifen or her elderly father.
In addition to the challenges Sifen faces due to poverty, she’s also dealt with many health challenges in her short life. Sifen was born with a form of anal atresia and was brought to the local hospital in Gambella by her birth mother in an attempt to correct her condition. Unfortunately, the results were tragic. Due to a mistake made during the surgery, Sifen’s spinal chord was compromised and she is now paralyzed form the waist down. In spite of these challenges, we are so happy to see Sifen thrive!
She now tries to crawl and can sit up on her own, feed and drink by herself, and wave! Little Sifen has also begun to speak a little—she says mama, papa, water, and food. This cutie also sleeps well and loves to express herself by clapping and smiling. While Sifen is shy at first, she is affectionate with those she knows and is very loving! She loves to cuddle! Sifen’s favorite foods are Fir Fir and bread with tea.
