Adopt a Child from Haiti



All God’s Children International has been approved by the IBESR (Haitian Social Services) as one of a select group of adoption agencies allowed to provide international adoptions in Haiti. As a dedicated international Christian adoption agency, we’ll be with you every step of the way on your journey to adopt a child.

  • Available Children for Adoption

    Available Children
    The following waiting children are available for adoption:
    • Orphans 2 to 8 years of age at the time of placement.
    • Single children as well as siblings.
    • Families adopting from Haiti must be open to adopting a child of either gender.

  • Adoption Process for Haiti

    Step 1
    Complete home study and then submit dossier: approximately 6 months.

    Step 2
    Wait for a referral and be matched with your child: approximately 18-24 months.

    Step 3
    Travel on your first trip to Haiti to meet your child: approximately 2 weeks.

    Step 4
    Adoption process and legalization of adoption: approximately 12-15 months.

    Step 5
    Complete United States visa process: approximately 2-6 weeks.

    Step 6
    Travel to Haiti to bring your child home: approximately 3-5 days.

    Step 7
    Welcome home! Once your child is home, AGCI and Haiti require post-adoption visits and reports at 3, 6, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48 and 60-month anniversaries of your child’s adoption.


  • Adoption Requirements for Haiti

    Age of Parents
    At least one parent must be at least 30 years old. Adoptive parents cannot be over the age of 50. Parents must be 14 years older than the adopted child.

    Marriage Status
    Heterosexual couples married at least five years OR who have five years of cohabitation are welcome to adopt from Haiti. Single women may adopt.

    Children in Family
    Families may have any number of biological and adopted children as long as they can provide for the new adopted child.

    Families must have a positive net worth and an income of at least $10,000 per family member, including the adopted child.

    Criminal History
    Families with no criminal history are welcome to adopt from Haiti.

    Medical History
    Applicants with a past or current diagnosis of a life-threatening or communicable disease or other condition that impairs their ability to parent and/or the quality of life of a child are ineligible. Families with no history of significant mental health issues or substance abuse are welcome to adopt from Haiti. Families will need to pass a psychological evaluation for the Haiti dossier.

    Other Requirements
    Our partner in Haiti requires adoptive families to provide a letter from their pastor stating their involvement in their local Christian or Catholic Church.

    Travel in Country
    Two trips are required. Both parents are strongly encouraged to travel on these trips.

    Fee Disclosure: All fees paid to AGCI are paid in advance of service. AGCI fees are non refundable and may not be waived. If services are terminated and a refund is due, all refunds will be processed within 60 days of withdrawal and/or closure of the adoption file upon receiving the Adoption Termination Contract.
