UNLOCKING HOPE CAMPAIGN

Over the next three years, we are working in partnership with you to transform the lives of the most vulnerable children and families on a global scale. Over the past five years, AGCI developed a model that is transforming the child welfare system in Colombia, and now we are taking that trauma-informed model to South America, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Africa.

As a faith-based organization, it is our prayer that God’s calling to care for His children inspires the Body of Christ to come alongside us in this transformational work. Jesus showed us the perfect example of healing first by connecting with people, empowering us with the Holy Spirit, and always correcting in love. All God’s Children International is motivated by our faith to be a part of the bigger story of hope and restoration that God is weaving together.

Watch this video to learn more about the challenges that the most vulnerable children and families face and how the AGCI model and its partners transform millions of lives.

OUR VISION

Our vision is to empower local leaders to intervene for the millions of children currently living in institutions and create more pathways to family and independence.

THROUGH OUR CAMPAIGN, AGCI’S GOAL IS TO…

» Empower the 11 Latin American countries that sought out AGCI’s guidance on how to break the cycle that traps children and families with our Child Advocacy Model to impact 70,000 children.

» Host 23 regional trauma-informed trainings to touch every country in Latin America and allow 400,000 children to receive the loving care they need to truly heal.

» Launch a Child Advocacy Center in the Philippines and expand our child advocacy services in Ethiopia to impact thousands of children and families.

» Train 9,000 leaders in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Latin America in Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) to impact thousands of vulnerable children for generations to come.

TRAUMA AFFECTS A CHILD’S…

BEHAVIOR: 75% of people who are depressed experienced early trauma (1).
BRAIN: Children living in an institution have an average IQ that is 20 points lower than peers who live in a family environment (2).
BODY: If left untreated, children with a high ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) score face a 20-year decrease in life expectancy (3).
BELIEFS: Without intervention, children with high ACE scores are 12X more likely to attempt suicide (4).
BIOLOGY: The effects of trauma span generations. Through epigenetics, trauma is passed down from parent to child (5).

THE SOLUTION

BREAKING FREE OF THE CYCLE AND HEALING TRAUMA

Over the last five years in Colombia, AGCI partnered with the Colombian government to change policy and advocate for children and families in the child welfare system.

PARTNERED WITH LOCAL LEADERS: AGCI developed key relationships with the government and NGO partners that allowed us to pilot programs that transformed hundreds of children’s lives through our Child Advocacy Model.

LAUNCHED OUR CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER: Based on the success of those pilot programs and the lives transformed, AGCI then launched our first Child Advocacy Center to provide pathways to faith, family, and independence for thousands of children.

CHANGED POLICY: AGCI partnered with the child welfare system to rewrite laws that did not limit the length of time a child can spend in the system. Today, 26,800 children can now be reunified or eligible for adoption within six months.

UNLOCKING THE FUTURE

At 20 years old, Daniela entered AGCI’s university home with a cold determination to make her own way. She isolated herself from AGCI’s care team who quickly understood Daniela’s hard exterior was only masking fear, anxiety, and a lack of self-esteem. When Daniela began failing university classes, she spiraled into a deep depression. Realizing her loneliness, she finally confided in an AGCI caregiver and asked for help. For the first time in Daniela’s life, she was received by her caregiver with compassion and open arms—her cry for help was answered. Daniela began attending weekly counseling sessions and her connection with friends and caregivers in the home blossomed.

She received career coaching and is now pursuing a degree in gastronomy. Today, Daniela knows that she is worthy of love. Living in the university home has strengthened her relationship with the Lord, and she now sees how precious she is in His eyes. Daniela hopes to have a family of her own one day and a bright future “always with God by my side.”
