Did you know November is National Adoption Month? By finding ways to celebrate, you can help spread awareness and encourage others to learn about adoption, too! At AGCI, we love celebrating this special month, and we want to help you celebrate with your family as well! Whether or not you have been personally impacted by adoption, we can all celebrate National Adoption Month simply by being in support of those who are part of the adoption community.
If your family has been blessed by the miracle of adoption or if you are currently in the adoption process, what an even greater reason to celebrate! Here are five ways to get you started:
1. Celebrate your child’s heritage
If you adopted a child internationally, spend some time helping them to intentionally connect with their heritage. Some ideas of how to connect with another culture include cooking a traditional dish, playing traditional games or activities, listening to music from their first culture, or making crafts to demonstrate appreciation for different cultures, especially your child’s own heritage.
2. Start a Conversation
Whether you yourself were adopted, have adopted, or have made plans to adopt, this month is the perfect time to jump into conversations about adoption and offer your unique perspective! Your stories can make an incredible impact, and who knows, maybe your story will have a direct impact on leading someone else to pursue adoption as well!
3. Offer Support
Do you know someone who has recently adopted? One great way to celebrate National Adoption Month is by offering to help adoptive families in some way! You can arrange a meal chain, mow their lawn, offer to babysit, do a load of laundry, or run a few errands on their behalf. Anything you can do to help is sure to be a huge blessing to that family!
4. Take the Next Step
If you are in the adoption journey but currently feel stuck, consider “What’s stopping you from taking your next step?” We are here to help you every step of the way! Take some time this month to determine what else you can do to continue making progress or preparing your heart and home for your future child(ren). 5. Help More Families Adopt
If now isn’t the right time to grow your family through adoption, consider helping other families follow the call! At AGCI, we want to provide more opportunities for families to experience the joy of adoption. By making a donation to AGCI, you help financially support families in their pursuit of adoption. Your generosity can be the hands and feet of Jesus to these families and will help change the lives of children in need and families dreaming of completing their adoptions!
National Adoption Month celebrates the families who have grown through adoption, but it also recognizes the millions of children who are still waiting for their forever families. No matter how you choose to celebrate, you can help make a difference in the life of a child in need.
In honor of National Adoption Month, a group of generous donors has made it possible for us to offer a $500 grant to each family who submits an adoption application in the month of November and completes their contracts by December 31, 2023.
