AGCI Adoption Fees
Payment plans are available. Our financial services advisor will work with you to create your personalized plan.
Application Fee: $300
This non-refundable fee must accompany your formal application.
Home Study Services Fees: $2,200 to $4,000
These fees cover our services in preparing and completing your adoption home study, including any applicable social worker travel costs.
Non-AGCI Home Study Review Fee: $350 or more
Any home studies written by one of AGCI’s cooperating agencies will be reviewed by AGCI to ensure it meets all AGCI and sending country criteria.
Document Authentication and Translation Fees: $175 to $2,800
These fees cover costs of having your adoption documents authenticated and translated. The cost varies depending on country requirements.
Post-Adoption Services Fees: $2,500 and more
These fees cover the cost for AGCI or your cooperating agency to provide post-adoption services, such as post-placement visits and reports completed by your social worker.
U.S. Agency Fees: $6,000
The agency fees cover AGCI’s cost to facilitate your family’s adoption with the agency as well as domestic and foreign government offices.
Contribution and Orphan Care Fees: $500 to $2,500
This fee helps provide care for other orphaned children who may not be adopted.
Please note that any necessary updates or addendums to documents will incur additional costs.
China: $2,880 plus an additional, mandatory Chinese orphanage donation of approximately $5,600 paid directly to the Chinese orphanage.
Colombia: $6,100 plus additional fees of $4,500 to $7,300 that are paid directly to Colombian attorney and agencies.
These fee rates are based on a single child adoption, and rates for some fees will vary in the case of a sibling group adoption.
Third Party Expenses
Adoptive Parent Education: Approximately $260
This covers the cost of of pre-adoptive parent training through online courses at Adoption Learning Partners.
FBI Fingerprinting: $20 per adult
All adoptive families must complete fingerprint-based FBI clearances as part of their home study.
USCIS and Immigration-Related Fees: $1,150 and more
All families pursuing an international adoption are required to obtain approval from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) before bringing a child into the U.S. through adoption. These fees cover application fee, fingerprinting, your child’s visa, and if needed, any relevant renewals or changes.
Travel Expenses: $3,000 to $15,000
Each family’s travel expenses will greatly vary, depending on the program through which you are adopting, the number of required trips, the number of travelers, the time of year, and amount of travel notice. Travel expenses may include airfare, lodging, food, in-country transportation, traveler visas, and travel coordination.
Notary Services, County and State Authentication: $250+
The majority of documents associated with your adoption will require notarization. Additionally, depending on the country program you are adopting from, document certifications may also be required.
Medical Insurance for Adopted Child: Varies
Your adopted child must be added to your family’s health coverage plan at the time your family assumes legal and financial responsibility for your child. This may occur upon approval of your adoption in your child’s birth country or at the time you assume physical custody of your child.
Readoption: $500 to $1,500
AGCI requires all families to complete their state’s readoption process. State requirements vary, and in some cases, you may need to obtain legal assistance to complete the process.

Fee Disclosure: All fees paid to AGCI are paid in advance of service. AGCI fees are non refundable and may not be waived. If services are terminated and a refund is due, all refunds will be processed within 60 days of withdrawal and/or closure of the adoption file upon receiving the Adoption Termination Contract.
