At AGCI, we are answering God’s call to provide the love and care that every child deserves. When it is not possible to safely reunify a child with their birth family, we help find and prepare adoptive families for these children, giving them the best chance possible to thrive. In 2022 alone, more than 100 children were placed with their forever families through AGCI! So, as we wrap up the end of the year, we want to take some time to reflect on these amazing adoption stories and celebrate the many kids who are home with their forever families this Christmas!
While a forever family can be a gift to a child, William and Mary Kate believe their adopted son Johan was the true gift to their family. William and Mary Kate began their adoption journey in the fall of 2018, and after a delayed paperwork process due to COVID-19, they were matched with Johan in September 2021 and were able to travel to Colombia to bring him home this February! Although the wait was long, they know it was worth it because the extended waiting period opened their hearts to adopting a son with a need they had not previously considered, and that son is the exact child God had planned for them. Since coming home, William and Mary Kate have been extremely intentional on how to incorporate Johan into a life with two older siblings, and big brother and sister have welcomed him in with so much care and protection! They love their little brother!
William and Mary Kate are firm believers in God’s provision. From the preparation period, to traveling in country, and since returning home, they are quick to praise God for His timing and His blessings. They continue to trust His plan for their family every step of the way, and they are so excited to celebrate one year as a family of five in just a few short months!
“Our son has brought indescribable joy to our family,” Mary Kate said. “Adoption filled a void we did not realize existed. We are so thankful for AGCI and the role they played in bringing our son into our lives. We felt well-equipped to navigate the adoption process with all the team members that worked with us. We could never thank them enough for their love and support throughout our adoption journey.”
Because of joyous moments like this, we can say that bringing a child home is one of the best gifts you can ever receive!
