A Path to Healing and Homecoming
Hawa* always struggled in school, but the older she got, the more she began comparing herself to her classmates. Hawa's confidence was low, and she began believing lies about her worth. Disappointed in herself and without the tools to process her hard feelings in a healthy way, Hawa ran away from home.
Hawa eventually ended up in one of the city's police stations, where she was referred to the AGCI & the Tim Tebow Foundation House of Hope in Ethiopia. Once in our care, the staff noticed how Hawa spoke about herself and brought her to a local hospital, where she was diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety.
Through the restorative power of the blood of Christ, Hawa began to experience true transformation. Slowly, she began engaging with the home's Special Mothers and other residents.
Before the House of Hope, Hawa believed she didn't deserve love. Thankfully, God's work unleashed the truth and hope of the Gospel into her life—that regardless of circumstances, she was completely loved by her Creator and worthy of love.
Our staff located and began training Hawa’s family with hopes of reunifying. Once it was determined Hawa and her family were ready for reunification, she returned home.
Hawa has been home for a year and a half now and is still in the care of her family!
Hawa serves as a true testimony to the power of the Gospel. We know God is able to unlock new futures in even the most difficult stories.
