Laura is a gentle and thoughtful young woman who dreams of earning her degree in Psychology, working on behalf of vulnerable children, and building a family of her own. While her determination and strength have gotten her through the first half of her university education, the road has been anything but easy. Laura entered government care at the pivotal age of 12, and she spent all of her teenage years living in and out of different institutions. Many peers growing up in government care dropped out of high school, but Laura graduated and entered college, firm in her resolve to prioritize her education and to build a strong future for herself.
However, in order to continue to receive government support for college, Laura has been living under the constrains of an institution designed for much younger children. As someone who has spent the last 9 years of her life in government care, Laura is at risk of transitioning to independence without the life skills she needs to support herself.
Now that she has entered AGCI’s Dream Home, Laura has the opportunity to complete her degree in an age appropriate environment while learning the important skills she needs to become a successful adult. By sponsoring Laura, you can ensure that she continues to receive the guidance, love, and support she needs to reach her full potential and to transition to independence. With the right support, Laura can break the cycle of an orphan, and she can become the kind of Psychologist who helps other vulnerable children break the cycle as well.
