ABOUT COSTA RICA
Due to stigmas and cultural expectations surrounding children and families, many children are in need of permanency in Costa Rica. Wide socioeconomic gaps in society in Costa Rica lead many birth families to make the difficult decision to plan adoption for their child or children, leaving these children in need of a permanent family solution outside their family of origin. Many children also enter care due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Children in Costa Rica that are in need of forever families often have identified specialized needs.

AGCI began intervening for children and families in Costa Rica in 2023! Through our international adoption program, we help children ages 0-15 unite with their forever families!

Finding Families for Orphans
In 2023, we began working to unite orphans in Costa Rica with loving forever families through our adoption programs.
We’re so excited to work with Costa Rica’s Central Authority, which is very child-centered, thoughtful, and efficient when working with families. We have a great working relationship with the local staff for this program and the travel process for families is streamlined!
Costa Rica is included in our Heritage Family Program, which works with people from Costa Rica or who have Costa Rican heritage adopt from the country. Please reach out to us if you would like to learn more about this program.
